Why Riders Choose YTZ5S

The compact 12V format trusted across powersport machines — here's what sets it apart

Compact OEM-Style Design

The YTZ5S packs reliable starting power into a 113 x 70 x 86 mm case designed for space-sensitive powersport applications. Fits battery bays on motorcycles, scooters, minibikes, and ATVs that leave little room for oversized alternatives.

AGM or Lithium — Two Paths

AGM is the proven default — sealed, maintenance-free, and well suited to daily riding. Lithium cuts weight by up to two-thirds and boosts cranking power for performance builds. Both fit the same battery tray — choose the chemistry that matches your priorities.

Vibration & Impact Resistance

Powersport machines put batteries through constant vibration and shock. AGM construction absorbs electrolyte into glass mats, eliminating spill risk and improving durability under rough riding conditions on and off the road.

Maintenance-Free Operation

Valve-regulated AGM design eliminates water loss and the need for routine electrolyte checks. Once activated and sealed, the battery requires no maintenance beyond proper charging — ideal for riders who want reliable starts without ongoing upkeep.

High CCA per Size Class

Despite its compact footprint, the YTZ5S delivers 65 CCA in AGM form — enough for reliable cold starts on small-displacement engines. Lithium alternatives in our store push that to 105–180 CCA without changing battery dimensions.

What Buyers Are Saying

Battery works great plug and play. Only thing you have to do is fill the battery with the acid.

Excellent factory replacement for my 2022 Honda Monkey! After 6 miles and 3 years, the factory battery is bad. Excellent pricing compared to my local Honda dealer. Unsure why some are providing bad feedback for having to add the acid to activate the battery.. This is as fresh of a battery you will get and it takes 3 minutes. Highly recommended!!!

My 2017 Honda Grom battery finally died on me 6 years later (Yuasa, same model as this). The battery did great for the past 6 years and I only ride the bike once a week without ever putting it on a battery tender. I could've purchased a lithium battery which is much lighter, but the reliability of this battery is extremely hard to beat, and it fits the Grom perfectly without any modifications. Ordering it online was $40 less than what my local powersports store was going to bill me for it.

Arrived on time and as described. Activation process was very easy. The only issues was that the instruction had gotten wet in the package and was hard to read.

Purchased in April 2024 for a 11 zx10. Still cranks quick. Maybe slightly slower in cold temps when not on a tender. But hard to tell. Would buy again.

I used this to replace the glass mat battery in my generator. I was lucky if the glass mat lasted 12 months. It has plenty of cranking amps for the application and is physically smaller than the original battery. Guess we will see about the length of service.

About Our Store

Your dedicated YTZ5S powersport battery store

ytz5sbattery.com is a specialty store built for riders who need the right battery in the YTZ5S size class — without scrolling through thousands of unrelated products on generic sites. We carry the Yuasa YTZ5S-BS as the premium OEM standard, trusted AGM replacements from Interstate, Mighty Max, and Caltric, and performance lithium upgrades from AMPXELL, TYKOOL, and EBL. Every product in our store is a verified YTZ5S-compatible battery.

The Yuasa name carries weight in this category for a reason. Yuasa Battery, Inc. has manufactured powersport batteries in the United States since 1979 and serves as an OEM supplier for major motorcycle, ATV, and scooter manufacturers. GS Yuasa, its parent company, traces its roots back over a century. That heritage is why many riders start their YTZ5S search with Yuasa — and why we feature it as the anchor product in our store.

But not every rider needs the premium option. Some want a lower-cost AGM replacement that fits and starts reliably. Others want a lithium upgrade that sheds weight and boosts cranking power. Our store is built to serve all three priorities — OEM quality, value, and performance — in a focused, no-noise shopping experience for the YTZ5S battery category.

Where YTZ5S Gets Used

  • Honda Grom, Monkey 125, Super Cub, CRF110F/125F
  • Kawasaki KLX110, Z125 PRO
  • Yamaha TTR125, scooters, and small-displacement bikes
  • KTM 450/500 EXC and enduro machines
  • Can-Am DS 70/90, small ATVs, generators

Picking the Right One

  • Does the battery code match your vehicle's OEM spec?
  • Are the physical dimensions and terminal layout correct?
  • AGM for reliability or lithium for weight savings?
  • Is your charging system compatible with lithium chemistry?
  • Is brand reputation or price the bigger factor?

Frequently Asked Questions

A YTZ5S battery is a compact 12V powersport battery commonly used in motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, minibikes, and other small-engine vehicles. It is known for combining a small case size with enough starting power for everyday riding, commuting, and recreational use. In most cases, buyers choose this size because their vehicle requires a battery with specific dimensions, terminal layout, and reliable cold starting performance.

YTZ5S identifies the battery size and format, while BS usually means Bottle Supplied. That indicates the battery is shipped with a separate acid pack and activated before use. Once filled and sealed, it becomes a maintenance-free AGM battery that does not require routine water refilling.

Yuasa is widely recognized as one of the best-known names in powersports batteries and is often treated as the benchmark in this category. Many riders associate Yuasa with OEM-level reliability, consistent fit, and dependable starting performance. That is why YTZ5S shoppers often begin with Yuasa even when they later compare compatible alternatives.

The Yuasa YTZ5S-BS is popular because it offers a strong balance of compact size, maintenance-free AGM construction, vibration resistance, and dependable starting power. For riders who want a straightforward replacement without unnecessary complexity, it remains one of the most trusted choices in the category.

A standard YTZ5S battery is a 12V compact powersport battery with a case size around 113 x 70 x 86 mm. Depending on the brand, capacity and cranking performance can vary slightly, which is why exact specs should always be checked before purchase. Even batteries that share the same reference code may differ in chemistry, CCA, and terminal hardware.

That depends on the vehicle and the rider’s priorities. AGM is usually the safer and more familiar option for riders who want OEM-style reliability, simple installation, and broad compatibility. Lithium is more attractive for buyers who want lower weight, stronger starting output, and a more performance-oriented upgrade. AGM is often the better choice for stock replacement, while lithium makes more sense for select applications where the charging system and usage pattern support it.

Sometimes yes, but not always without careful checking. A lithium battery may match the physical size and terminal orientation of a YTZ5S, but that does not automatically make it the best or safest choice for every vehicle. Buyers should confirm chemistry compatibility, charging-system suitability, and the correct replacement code before switching from AGM to lithium.

YTZ5S batteries are commonly found in smaller motorcycles, scooters, minibikes, dirt bikes, ATVs, and similar powersport machines. They are especially common in vehicles where space is limited but dependable starting power is still essential. Some owners search by battery code, while others shop by vehicle make and model.

Not every replacement battery is built to the same standard. Some brands focus on matching OEM-style specs, while others emphasize higher starting power, lighter weight, or lower price. That is why one YTZ5S-compatible battery may list different CCA, Ah, or service-life claims than another. The best choice depends on whether the priority is stock-style reliability, value, or upgraded performance.

The most important details are battery code, dimensions, terminal orientation, battery chemistry, and intended vehicle fitment. Small differences matter in compact powersport applications, and choosing the wrong battery can create fit or charging issues. It is always better to verify the part carefully than assume every small 12V battery is interchangeable.

AGM remains popular because it is proven, practical, and easy to live with. It offers maintenance-free operation, good vibration resistance, strong real-world reliability, and fewer compatibility questions for everyday replacement use. For many riders, that makes AGM the most sensible option even when lithium alternatives are available.

Lithium appeals to riders who want less weight, stronger cranking output, faster recharge characteristics, and a more performance-focused battery. On lightweight motorcycles, pit bikes, scooters, and custom builds, reducing weight can be a real advantage. Lithium can be an excellent upgrade when the vehicle and charging system are a good match.

No. The site is centered on the YTZ5S battery category, with Yuasa presented as the premium reference point, while also offering compatible alternatives from other brands. This makes it easier for buyers to compare OEM-style AGM batteries, lower-cost replacements, and selected lithium options in one place.

A general battery catalog often makes shoppers filter through hundreds of unrelated products. ytz5sbattery.com is built around one specific battery size and its closest replacements, which makes the buying process more focused and practical. The emphasis is on clear fitment logic, useful comparisons, and category-specific guidance rather than overwhelming shoppers with broad inventory.

Yuasa is part of a much larger battery engineering legacy. The brand is closely associated with long-standing powersport battery manufacturing and a reputation for premium quality and reliability, while the broader GS Yuasa group is known internationally for its experience in energy storage technology. That larger heritage helps explain why Yuasa remains one of the most trusted names in the category.
